bubeidanci(不背单词) - a mobile learning software for memorising words

Bubeidanci (不背单词) is a word recitation for English learners in China. It is probably the best English vocabulary memorization mobile application that I have used.

Firstly, it is a free app. You can use it without spending any money and it provides nearly 50 vocabulary books covering English words from elementary school to university level, even including vocabulary required for study abroad exams such as IELTS and TOEFL.

The most attractive feature of this software is its simple and clear interface. After trying many vocabulary memorization apps, I believe that the layout design of a software is very important. A clear and concise interface can highlight the parts that need to be remembered, giving visual stimulation and making the memorization more solid.

Compared with other vocabulary learning apps, the method of this app to learn words is very simple. First, it uses flashcards to confirm whether or not you know a word. If you don't know it, the app will take you to a detailed explanation page for that word. Then, it uses multiple-choice questions to help you learn the word, and you must answer correctly three times in a row to consider the word "learned". Although this method is criticized for taking too long, I personally find it very effective.

        1. Flashcard                 → 2. detailed explanation      → 3. multiple choice questions

Additionally, there are features like presenting your learning statistics and daily check-in activities in this app. These methods of visualizing learners' progress can increase their motivation to continue studying.

After all, there are many types of mobile learning for second language acquisition, such as online courses, live broadcasts, and so on. This app only includes the function of memorizing English words. As for functional diversity, it may not be suitable for some people who want to try various learning methods. The learning method of reciting words is considered a very mechanical and traditional way of learning, and it may not be suitable for everyone's English learning. Therefore, when choosing software, make sure you choose one that suits your learning method
